Nepal is near to completing reconstruction after Great Nepal Earthquake, says PM Deuba

Kathmandu, December 10. Nepal’s Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday announced that after six years of the devastating earthquake, Nepal has nearly finalized the reconstruction and rehabilitation of disaster-hit areas.

While addressing an International Conference on Nepal’s Post-Quake Reconstruction, Deuba said that the government received support from friendly countries, international agencies in the post-earthquake reconstruction, which also contributed to strengthening the national economy. 

He also opined that the communities were able to enhance their disaster adaptation and resilience during the post-earthquake recovery phase.

Great Nepal Earthquake

On April 25, 2015, a massive 7.8 earthquake struck Nepal, collapsing thousands of houses, causing landslides and avalanches in the Himalaya Mountains.

Nearly 9,000 people were killed, and over 22,000 were injured. In the seismically active area, it was the worst earthquake in 81 years.
