We lost 19 Rhinos in six months: Chitwan National Park

Kathmandu, December 24. Officials of the Chitwan National Park have confirmed the death of 19 rhinos in the current fiscal year.
Chief Conservation Officer at the Park, Hari Bhadra Acharya told reporters that six rhinos died in the month of Shrawan, two in Bhadra, three in Kartik, five in Mangsir and two in Poush.
Two of the 19 rhinos died at the hands of smugglers. Five others died a natural death due to old age. The rest died due to wildlife dynamics inside the national park.
Chitwan National Park houses 694 rhinos, which account for 92 per cent of the national population.
