4,500 flights cancelled during ‘Christmas’ weekend

Kathmandu, December 25. FlightAware, a well-known flight tracking service, reported over 4,500 aircraft cancellations over the Christmas holiday.

The Christmas holiday weekend is one of the busiest travel times of the year. However, owing to the rapid spread of the Omicron strain of coronavirus, airline companies all over the world were compelled to postpone or cancel flights.

According to AFP News Agency, pilots, operators, and flight crews from throughout the aviation sector have been calling in unwell or being quarantined as a result of omicron exposure. As a result, Lufthansa, Delta, United Airlines, and many other airlines have had to postpone or cancel flights.

On Christmas Day, Flightaware.com tracked almost 2,000 flight cancellations, one-third of which were associated with US airports. Similarly, Don the day before Christmas, there were 2,400 cancellations reported globally.
