7 lakh people tested positive for COVID-19 in Lumbini province: latest report

Kathmandu, January 31. The Lumbini Health Ministry’s directorate announced on Monday that 3.2 million citizens in the province have received at least one shot of anti-COVID vaccines.
Organizing an official press meet at Gorahi, the directorate said that 32 lakh 73 thousand people have so far taken their first dose of vaccine. Similarly, 24 lakh 27 thousand people have received the second dose also.
At present, 7,641 people are currently infected with the deadly virus. Most of them are under home isolation. 131 are currently under oxygen support. 21 are being treated at the Intensive care unit of various hospitals. Two of the patients are critical and are facilitated with ventilation support.
The directorate also confirmed that a total of 2,411 patients died in the province due to complications of COVID-19 infection.
Ministry’s secretary Dr Bikash Devkota informed reporters that the provincial government has a stock of 11 lakh doses. He also said that the province requires an additional 11 lakh doses to vaccine all of the remaining population.
Devkota also said that a total of 7 lakh people have so far been tested positive for the virus.
