As covid cases rise, Hong Kong to vaccinate 3-year-olds
Kathmandu, February 14. Hong Kong announced on Monday that they will be vaccinating children as young as 3-year olds. The announcement came after total number of cases surged to 1,347 in a single day.
In-person gatherings are restricted to two households. People have been flocking grocery supermarkets and saloons for haircuts. Dining has been banned beyond 6 pm. Malls and supermarkets will only allow vaccinated people.
Hong Kong has vaccinated 73% of its population not including children. Vaccinations for children aged as young as 3 will start from Tuesday. They will be administered with China’s Sinopharm vaccine.
Hong Kong has been maintaining China’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy which requires quarantine, masking, case tracing and lockdown of neighborhoods where cases are detected.
The city has a population of 7.5 million and has 7,000 people awaiting for COVID-19 treatment or admission to hospitals.
