India is a driving force for Quad: US

Kathmandu, February 15. United States has said that India is a driving force for Quad and engine for regional growth.

Quad consists of four members namely Australia, India, Japan and United States. During the Melbourne Summit, foreign ministers discussed upon issues of increased Chinese involvement in the Indo Pacific and Russian aggression in Ukraine; along with many other issues of mutual concern.

White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters, “We recognize that India is a like-minded partner and leader in South Asia and the Indian Ocean, active in and connected to the Southeast Asia, a driving force of the Quad, and an engine for regional growth and development”.

She also revealed that US Secretary Blinken discussed the challenges that Russia possessed for the international order and readiness to support European allies.

She further said that US will continue to build partnership with India and work together for a free and open Indo-Pacific. They are looking forward to collaborate in areas of health, space, cyberspace and technology cooperation.
