Parliament to discuss MCC compact on Thursday, Nepali Congress mandates party lawmakers to attend HoR session on Thursday

Kathmandu, February 23. A proposal on the agreement of grant reached between Nepal government and the US aid agency, MCC, is being discussed in the House of Representatives tomorrow, Thursday.

The proposal seeking discussion on MCC compact has entered the parliament schedule for next day, according to Spokesperson at federal parliament, Dr Rojnath Pande. The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) is beginning at 1:00pm.

Similarly, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dilendra Prasad Badu is scheduled to present the annual report of the Office of the Attorney General for the fiscal year, 2077/2078BS.

The major ruling party Nepali Congress (NC) has directed the party members to attend a meeting of the House of Representatives scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday). The presence is mandatory, the party said.

According to party whip Puhspa Bhusal, all the party lawmakers in the lower house have been asked to compulsorily attend the session which is scheduled to deliberate on the MCC proposal tabled by the government in the House on Sunday.

The House is required to endorse the compact by coming February 28. The NC is so far among the major parties speaking in favour of the MCC. The government continues efforts to forge a wider political consensus on it. (RSS)
