China supports Russia in G20 membership
Russian President Putin is scheduled to visit Indonesia for G20 summit later this year. However, US and its allies are discussing on whether or not Russia should remain a member of the G20.
According to sources, any move to expel Russia would result in vetos by others in the group, even skipping the G20 meetings.
China has not condemned Russia’s actions in Ukraine and supported Moscow on Wednesday. China said that Russia is an “important member” of G20.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said, “No member has the right to remove another country as a member. The G20 should implement real multilateralism, strengthen unity and cooperation.”
