Kathmandu, March 29. Russia has agreed to “fundamentally” cut down on its operations at Kyviv and another northern city.

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin said the move was made to “increase trust” between the two countries during the talks.

The Ukrainian military has reported withdrawal of troops from Kyviv and Chernihiv. Additionally, an advisor for the Ukrainian president has revealed that the talks in Istanbul aims for ceasefire and guarantees for the Ukrainian security.

Signs of breakthrough in Tuesday’s Russia-Ukraine meet

The Russian and Ukrainian delegation has met face-to-face in Istanbul on Tuesday after several rounds of failed talks. However, the Russian delegation has described the meet as “meaningful”.

In addition, a Ukrainian negotiator has revealed that the leaders of the two countries might soon be meeting.

In contrast, the Russian ministry has ruled out any possibility of the two leaders meeting, stating it “counterproductive”.
