Kathmandu, March 30. Two northeastern Indian states on Tuesday have signed an agreement to resolve border disputes at six locations. The agreement was signed in presence of Union home minister Amit Shah.
Union home minister Amit Shah termed the event as a “historic day”. He added that in a short span of time, six out of twelve border disputes were resolved between the two states.
Furthermore, he praised the political will of the leaders of the respective states to resolve the issue.
Last year, the government identified twelve areas of dispute at borders of the two states. The next step is demarkation of the borders by the Survey Department of India in presence of both the governments.
Officials have however said that the process might take few months.
