PM Deuba lays foundation for old-age home in Varanasi

Kathmandu, April 3. PM Sher Bahadur Deuba has laid the foundation for the construction of old-age home at Varanasi. The old-age home will be built in the premises of Pashupatinath Temple at Lalitaghat, Varanasi.

On the occasion, PM Deuba also performed the ‘bhumi puja’ or the land sanctification rituals for the construction. Nepal will contribute an amount of NRs 10 million for the construction of the old-age home. The contract for the construction is yet to be issued.

Additionally, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, India, Yogi Adityanath was present for the occasion.

The old-age home will consist of 35 rooms. It will reportedly be constructed in Nepali architectural style. Furthermore, it will accommodate Nepali pilgrims visiting Varanasi.

The sketch of the building is being prepared by the Department of Archaeology in Nepal.

Deuba visited Varanasi on the last day of his three-day official visit to India.
