Election Commission requests not to make minor issue matter of dispute

Kathmandu, May 15. The Election Commission has urged the bodies concerned not to make a minor issue during vote counting a major one.
The Election Commission has said its attention has been drawn towards incidences of halting the counting, mobbing, shouting and causing a delay in the entire counting process over unnecessary disputes. The commission needs to conclude the counting process before May 19 and the disturbances have been causing problems.
Further, Shaligram Sharma Poudel, spokesperson for the Election Commission, has aimed to speed up the counting process by coordinating with the district-based Human Resources Management Coordination Committee.
Ballots from rural areas being brought by helicopters
The ballot boxes from a polling station at Namkha Rural Municipality-6 have been brought to the vote counting centre at Yalbang by helicopter on Sunday.
Due to snowfall at Nyalu mountain pass, the ballot boxes could not be brought to the counting centre. According to Chief Election Office Jagat Bahadur Poudel, the boxes were brought to the vote counting centre at Yalbang in Namkha by helicopter of the Nepali Army.
He added counting votes of the three ballot boxes brought would start by Sunday evening.
