Nepal and China emphasize on timely implementation of agreements
Kathmandu, May 26. Nepal and China agreed to boost cooperation in sectors such as trade, transit, connectivity, investment, health, tourism among others. They also highlighted the importance of timely implementation of agreements between the two countries.
On the occasion of 14th meeting of the Nepal-China Diplomatic Consultation Mechanism on Wednesday, the two countries agreed on the aforementioned matters. The meeting was conducted virtually. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Mr Wu Jianghao led their respective delegations in the meeting.
Furthermore, Foreign Secretary Paudyal thanked the Chinese Government for their support through vaccines and medical supplies to Nepal during the pandemic.
Additionally, Assistant Minister Wu asserted of China’s support towards Nepal in health sector.
The two leaders agreed to activate more bilateral mechanisms to increase cooperation and partnership in the days to come.
Wang Yi begins visit to South Pacific nations amid growing security concern
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will be visiting to South Pacific island countries starting Thursday. The countries include Solomon Islands, Kiribati, Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and East Timor.
Wang’s trip is expected to cover areas of public health, economy, climate change and security.
Moreover, while Chinese experts say the trip is purely for cooperation, the west doubts upon China for initiating shadowy deals.
Earlier, United States raised concern for an agreement between China and Solomon Islands.
