Indian Singer Sidhu Moosewala shot dead, Punjab CM orders probe
Kathmandu, May 30. Indian Singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Sunday. He was traveling in Mansa district in Punjab while the incident took place.
According to Punjab police chief Viresh Kumar Bhawra, 30 bullets were found at the crime scene which belonged to three different types of guns. The singer whose real name was Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was declared brought dead at the hospital. He was 28.
Two more people were injured in the incident. The incident has sparked widespread criticisms from the public and opposition parties. Further, the Punjab police said a Canada based gang has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Moreover, he didn’t have his security with him during the attack. It is reported that he was provided two security personnel instead of four. The Punjab government recently reduced the number of security assigned to politicians as to reduce to the VIP culture.
Further, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has ordered an inquiry into the incident. He said that those involved in the incident won’t be spared.
Moosewala was one of Punjab’s most popular singers and a leader of the Indian Congress Party. Indian Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi expressed his sadness on Moosewala’s demise. The singer had joined the party last year.
