Torrential rain triggers disaster in Dhading; 75 families become homeless

Kathmandu, June 16. The incessant rainfall since the 13th of this month has thrown life out of gear in the Dhading district of Nepal. Settlements are at risk due to floods and landslides triggered by the monsoon rain.
75 households have been displaced in the Tripurasundari and Gangajamuna rural municipalities in the northwest of the district due to landslides. The rivers and streams in the district have become swollen intensifying further risk to settlements.
According to the data recorded by the District Disaster Management Committee,
- 24 families were displaced in Basera
- 14 families were displaced in Budhathum
- 14 families were displaced in Phulkharka
- 12 families were displaced in Gangajamuna-2
The local government is arranging immediate relief assistance and temporary shelters for the displaced victims.
