Hoteliers in Annapurna Circuit worry as tourist flow sharply declines amid heavy monsoon
Kathmandu, June 18. Tourism in Bung and Octopus waterfalls, major tourist attractions along the Annapurna circuit in the Lamjung district, has been struggling since the flow of tourists suddenly declined due in the wake of the monsoon season.
“Prior to the coming of the monsoon, these two waterfalls at Chaymche of Marsyangdi rural municipality used to welcome at least 200 visitors every day, both foreign and domestic,” Municipal chair Arjun Gurung told reporters.
The number of people visiting the Annapurna Circuit decreases significantly during the monsoon season due to the risk of landslides along the rough roads.
A sudden decline in the flow of tourists has made local businesses worried about their source of income. Hoteliers have appealed to the government to construct monsoon-resistant roadways and save tourism businesses in the Annapurna circuit.
