Kathmandu, July 2. Farmers in Doti are forced to begin paddy plantations despite the shortage of artificial fertilizers.
The Agriculture Directorate of Sudurpashchim province informed reporters that 8000 hectares, or more than 75% of the total agricultural land, had not yet been cultivated.
Dipayal-based Agriculture Inputs Company indicated that the reason for the acute shortage of Urea, DAP, and potassium fertilizers is caused by insufficient imports from India.
“Torrential rains have taken farmers to the field … I urge them to use organic/compost-based fertilizers to fulfill their needs” Directorate’s Senior office Yagya Raj Joshi said.
