Aung San Suu Kyi sentenced to six years of jail
Kathmandu, August 15. Impeached leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been sentenced to six years of jail by a court in military-ruled Myanmar. She was found guilty in four cases related to corruption.
According to a source, she was found guilty on Monday of misusing funds from the Daw Khin Kyi Foundation, a group she founded to support health and education, to build a house and of leasing government-owned land at a reduced price. However, Suu Kyi has denied all allegations.
Additionally, the Nobel laureate has been sentenced to 11 years in jail. She is serving a jail term in solitary confinement in the capital, Naypyitaw.
A representative from the Human Rights Watch revealed that it is an assault against her rights and that they want to bury her and her party.
