Pakistan declares national emergency as flood kills 937

Kathmandu, August 26. Pakistan government declared a national emergency as floods have killed 937 people, including 343 children.

According to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) inn Pakistan, the highest number of deaths was recorded in Sindh province with 306 deaths until Thursday. The abnormal increase in rainfall led to the floods.

Moreover,Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday asked for international help. He said, “We have reached out to donors, friendly countries & international financial institutions for assistance to respond to the scale of flood calamity.”

He further added he met foreign diplomats and representatives of international aid agencies to inform them about the extent of losses.

Furthermore, around 6,500 Pakistanis are involved in the rescue process. The United Nations revealed Thursday they have allocated $3million for the Pakistan floods.
