Illegally constructed twin towers in India demolished

Kathmandu, August 28. Two twin towers in Noida, India was demolished on Sunday, as they were constructed in an illegal manner. The towers owned by Supertech developers, was in a legal battle for over twelve years with the residents in the area.
The towers was demolished through a waterfall implosion technique and was turned into rubble in nine seconds. The Supreme Court gave orders to demolish the towers last year, but was pushed forward due to technical difficulties.
Moreover, the debris of the towers will take three months to be cleared. Residents in the surrounding areas were evacuated before the demolition and the nearby highway was closed.
Ritu Maheshwari, a government administrator said after the demolition, “Largely, everything is OK. It happened as expected.”
The building were constructed without consent of residents in surrounding apartments and by violating building norms.
Further, residents were allowed to return to their buildings in the evening.
