France, Germany to cooperate for tackling energy crisis

Kathmandu, September 6. President of France, Emmanuel Macron on Monday announced France and Germany will support each other through the energy crisis.

French President Macron spoke with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz through a video conference. He revealed France is ready to provide Germany with more gas supply, in return demanding more electricity from Germany.

Further, he added that France was in favor of solidarity measures at the European level to tackle the energy crisis. Expressing that there is no need of gas pipeline between France and Spain, he said,”We are in favor of common gas purchasing practices that will make it possible to buy cheaper.”

In addition, Macron suggested putting in place control mechanisms for speculative activities at the European level in response to the high energy prices in Europe. He further declared his support for a price cap on gas imports from Russia at the EU level.
