China’s top legislator Li arrives in Nepal

Kathmandu, September 12. Li Zhanshu, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, arrived in Nepal on Monday. He is on a four day visit to Nepal.

Further, Li was received at Tribhuvan International Airport by Speaker of House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota, in presence of officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Moreover, Li is in Nepal by the invitation of Speaker Sapkota.

Li will also pay courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, separately. He will further meet Chairperson of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina. Nepali Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Narayan Khadka will also pay a courtesy call to Li on the same day.

Additionally, Chairman of CPN-UML, K P Sharma Oli and Chairman of CPN-Maoist Centre, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will be holding meetings with Li on September 13.

The Chinese delegation will be visiting Bhaktapur Durbar Square to observe the structures reconstructed post 2015 earthquake. Li’s delegation comprises of 67 persons including six high-ranking officers, security personnel among others.

The Chinese delegation will be returning on September 15.

MoU signed between Nepal and China for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation

A Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) has been signed between Nepal and China for inter-parliamentary co-operation. Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota signed on behalf of Nepal while National People’s Congress Chairman Li Zhanshu signed on behalf of China.

The agreement was signed at Federal Parliament Building at New Baneshwor. The agreement consists of six points which will enable the two countries to cooperate at the parliamentary and other multi-faceted levels.

Further, Speaker Sapkota will host a dinner in honour of CPC Chairperson Li and the members of his delegation at the Hotel Soaltee tonight.
