US police agencies illegally track people’s phones: Report

Kathmandu, September 14. US police agencies have found to be tracking people’s phones without a search warrant. They have been using certain tools to follow people’s movements.

According to public records and internal emails obtained by The Associated Press, police have used “Fog Reveal” to search records from 250 million mobile devices.

Further, the application is sold by Virginia-based Fog Data Science LLC. It is used to follow the devices through their unique number and advertising ids to trace people’s homes and workplaces. It will help police to establish life pattern of the people.

Moreover, privacy advocates have voiced against and said that such activities violates the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
