Xi, Putin meet in Uzbekistan

Kathmandu, September 15. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin met for strengthening their ties on Thursday. The two met on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Uzbekistan.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization consists of eight members including China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Further, Putin said that United States and its allies are putting in “ugly” efforts to maintain their dominance. Xi was careful and said Russia and China was trying to set an example of a responsible world leader.

Xi’s trip to Uzbekistan is his first after the covid pandemic. Moreover, the two leader’s meeting comes after Russia was forced to pull back its forces from Ukraine.

Putin said he appreciated China’s balanced stance on the Ukraine issue and condemned US’s interference in the Taiwan Strait.

Furthermore, Putin also met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Thursday. He is planning to meet Indian Prime Minister Modi on Friday.
