Powerful typhoon hits southern Japan

Kathmandu, September 18. A powerful typhoon has hit southern Japan on Sunday, causing heavy rain and blackouts. It has forced thousands of residents to evacuate.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said Typhoon Nanmadol was heading north after making landfall in Kagoshima city on Japan’s southern main island of Kyushu. Further, the agency predicted ‘unprecedented’ level of winds and waves urging people to evacuate soon.
Moreover, it is reported more than 12,000 people took shelter at evacuation centers in Kagoshima. In neighboring Miyazaki, 8,000 people have left their homes.
Public transportation has been suspended through Sunday, while domestic flights have been canceled through Tuesday. Further, railway operators revealed bullet trains on Kyushu island also have been suspended.
