UK PM sacks treasurer Kwarteng, appoints Hunt

Kathmandu, October 14. UK Prime Minister Liz Truss fired her Treasury chief Kwasi Kwarteng in efforts to save her from the backlash she faced for her economic policies.
Further, Kwarteng confirmed his resignation through Twitter and said that he accepted Truss’s decision. He said UK has been facing low growth rates and that “following the status quo was not an option.”
Truss has appointed former Cabinet minister Jeremy Hunt as the new treasurer on Friday.
Truss was elected last month to replace Boris Johnson. But more recently, she has been in a turmoil over her economic policies. Truss has promised tax cuts to increase growth, which did not go well with the conservative lawmakers.
