Kathmandu, October 17. Iran’s Petrol Minister Javad Owji on Sunday confirmed that the country had begun processing its crude oil in South America.

Owji told a local newspaper that Venezuela’s El Palito refinery presently refines 100,000 barrels of Iranian crude oil every day.

“The National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company has always held the goal of expanding Iran’s refinery operation in overseas projects,” Owij noted.

Media reports suggest that the Iranian government recently contracted with the Venezuelan state-owned oil firm to repair and expand the refinery for 116 million US dollars.
