No women in Chinese Communist Party’s new cabinet, first time in 25 years
Kathmandu, October 23. China will not have a woman in its new cabinet, for the first time in 25 years. President Xi Jinping appointed his allies in the seven member Standing Committee of the Communist Party.
Sun Chunlan, the only woman in the previous standing committee, retired and no new woman member was appointed.
While the once-in-five-years Communist Party Congress concluded recently, the shuffle in the cabinet has gathered mixed opinions. Further, experts have revealed Xi rewards loyalty more than anything else and his step indicates that he wants to rule beyond a second term.
Moreover, President Xi was elected for the third term on Sunday. He has emerged as a powerful leader after party founder Mao Zedong.
