Kathmandu, November 14. US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping has met ahead of the G-20 Summit in Bali. The two met on Monday, with the meeting being the first since Biden was elected president. They greeted each other with a handshake.

Further, Biden said it was great to meet Xi, adding the two countries will put their differences aside and work together in matters of mutual cooperation.

In response, Xi said US-China relations were not meeting global expectations. He further said that a right direction should be sought for bilateral relations to bring it back on track.

While Biden said US supported China in the ‘one-China policy’, he added China hasn’t made any attempt to invade Taiwan. He said there is no need of new Cold War with China.

Biden held five phone and video calls with Xi since he became president in 2021.
