Kathmandu, November 25. Anwar Ibrahim was sworn in as Malaysia’s prime minister on Thursday.

The king appointed Anwar after discussing with lawmakers. He had also faced political charges and jail coups amid being the opposition leader for more than 20 years.

Moreover, he was the deputy prime minister in the 1990s and official prime minister-in-waiting in 2018.

Anwar has taken over at a difficult time when the economy has slowed down and has witnessed the change of prime ministers over few years.

While equities rose by 3%, markets became green ahead of the announcement.

Anwar is the 10th prime minister of Malaysia.
