Kathmandu, November 30. Former Chinese President Jiang Zemin has died on Wednesday at the age of 96 in Shanghai. He was suffering from leukemia and multiple organ failure.
Further, he was a former mayor and Communist Party secretary. He had an important role in bringing China out of isolation along with economic reforms that led to tremendous growth. Additionally, he took a lead role in crackdown of the Tiananmen Square protests.
He succeeded Zhao Ziyang and served thirteen years as the party general secretary.
Jiang is survived by his two sons and his wife.
