Landslide victims suffer in cold
Kathmandu, December 3. The families from Chhayanath Rara Municipality-11 in the district, who were displaced by the landslide occurred last September, are currently afflicted with cold. People have been staying in tents in a forest.
Sher Singh Bhargi, one amongst the affected said, “We were displaced after our houses were buried by landslide. We are now forced to stay under tent and braving cold.”
Further, people who are displaced are from villages named Jhayari, Shigadi, Ghuir and Tallo Salimal. They said they have complained to the government, but their efforts go in vain. They further added the situations have been difficult for their children.
Another affected person, Balikanya Bohara said, “We don’t have warm clothes. There is no assistance from any side.” Sixty-two families from Salim are affected by the cold.
People have been complaining of different ailments and health issues. While the elected representatives have vowed to address the issue, no immediate results have been seen at the ground level.
