Tourism Minister hands over his one month salary to Sanu Sherpa for World Record

Kathmandu, December 22. Tourism Minister Jeevan Ram Shrestha on Wednesday organized a brief ceremony to honor Guinness World Record holder Sanu Sherpa.

Sherpa wrote his name in the global record by climbing the 14 highest peaks above 8,000 meters twice. He has also climbed the world’s tallest Mt Everest seven times.

During the event inside Singh Durbar, Tourism Minister Shrestha congratulated Sherpa and handed him a cheque for Rs 70,730. The amount on the signed check matched Shrestha’s salary for one month.

“Climbing a high mountain is very challenging. We are proud of Sherpa for making world records by climbing the highest mountains multiple times, “ the Minister said while handing over the cheque.
