Fire guts property worth over Rs 49 lakhs in Dhankuta

Kathmandu, January 15. Property worth over Rs 49 lakhs has been reduced to ashes when the fire engulfed five houses in Sindhuwa bazaar of Dhankuta district.
The local police informed that the fire broke out in a rented space of a fresh house shop in the market. The cause of the fire has not been identified.
As the fire raged all over the building, the building owner Santa Bahadur Rai lost his property worth 37 lakhs. “Rai also lost 22 grams of gold and Rs 200,000 cash money in the fire,” a policeman said.
The fire spread to adjacent houses and caused losses to several locals. The rural municipality of “Chhathar Jorpati” is preparing to distribute relief packages to the victims. “We are deploying our disaster management team for relief operation,” Municipality Chairman Chhatra Subba told reporters.
