Kathmandu, February 24. A team of archaeologists has discovered 32 ancient tombs from an excavation site in the central province of Minya, Upper Egypt.

The Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities and Tourism announced on Friday that the limestone tombs dated back to the Roman, Persian, Byzantine and Coptic eras.

Chairman of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri remarked, “The discovery is very significant for revealing truths about the history of Upper Egypt.”

Waziri further explained that the tombs from the Coptic era were discovered as rectangular holes in the ground and that tombs from the Roman era were discovered without lids.
