Rare species of Wolf Snake found in Nepal

Kathmandu, March 4. A non-venomous wolf snake, a rare snake species, has been discovered in Kanchanpur district of Sudurpaschhim province.
The snake was found near human settlement in Bellauri Municipality.
“This is the first time I have seen a wolf snake in my 25 years of work,” Dinesh Yadav, Chief of the Sub Division Forest Office in Kunda, told reporters, adding that the white-colored three-foot long snake feeds on mice, insects, and frogs.
Yadav also confirmed that his team released the rare snake inside the nearby Simtal community forest.
The wolf snake is said to be found in Nepal, India, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, and Malaysia. It lives inside tree and ground holes and hunts for prey at night.
