Kathmandu, April 9. Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha visited Tribhuvan International Airport on Saturday and directed officials to maintain complete security, make help desks effective, and transfer airport activities to a digital system.

“The airport was a very sensitive area in terms of national security,” said Shrestha, “and added that no exemption would be granted to the trends and activities that weaken the airport’s sensitivity.” He further added, “An international airport is a national identity. We need to be highly active.”

Shrestha also proposed restructuring TIA within 15 days for immediate and long-term reforms. He argued that the entrance gate of the tourists should be the reflection of the nation’s culture and civilization.

He also urged the officials deployed at the TIA to be highly respectful to foreign tourists coming to Nepal and Nepali labour migrant workers going abroad.
