Kathmandu, April 19. In an effort to tackle air pollution in the Kathmandu valley, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has established a Civil Society Network.
The team consists of people’s representatives and civil society representatives from ten wards that are located near the Bishnumati River.
The 11-member team, led by Niru Maharjan, aims to raise public awareness at the community level to discourage waste and plastic burning. The team will launch a special sanitation program and a door-to-door initiative to reduce household pollution.
They will also hold regular discussions and advise the relevant authorities on measures to improve air quality in the Kathmandu valley.
