Kathmandu, May 2. Heavy rain yesterday afternoon caused a motorable bridge over Ganeshkhola to collapse, leading to the complete halt of vehicular movement at the border of Dhunibensi Municipality and Thakre Rural Municipality in Dhading district.

District Police Office Information Officer SantuLal Prasad Jaisawal reported that a large section of the bridge towards Dhunibensi collapsed, prompting the opening of one-way traffic for a brief period before vehicles were forced off the road at 4:00 pm.

While a new bridge had already been under construction next to the existing one, small vehicles have been rerouted to a makeshift road, though larger vehicles may face some delays.

In light of the obstruction, traffic police have advised motorists to use the Hetauda-Kathmandu and Kathmandu-Nuwakot-Galchhi road section to avoid the affected area.
