Kathmandu, June 11. The Byas Municipality of Tanahun issued an important announcement on Saturday, urging local transport committees to ensure that all passenger vehicles are equipped with dustbins in order to maintain cleanliness standards in public transport.
Chief Administrative Officer Gangalal Subedi expressed, “We have made it mandatory for public transport vehicles within our jurisdiction to have dustbins. This step is crucial in maintaining cleanliness and preventing littering.”
Subedi further continued, “We expect the transport committees to play an active role in educating passengers about the proper disposal of garbage and discourage them from throwing it outside the vehicles.”
To enforce this directive, strict penalties have been put in place. Individuals found littering will face fines of Rs 3,000 for the first offense and Rs 7,000 for subsequent violations.
In addition to addressing public transport, the municipality has kindly urged everyone to refrain from conducting business activities on the streets and intersections. Furthermore, the municipality is also actively searching for a suitable permanent location to establish a landfill site, aiming to improve waste management practices within the municipality.
