Pokhara Gears Up for Spectacular Nepal-China Friendship Dragon Boat Race Festival

Kathmandu, June 23. For the first time in Nepal, the Nepal-China Friendship Dragon Boat Race Festival is commencing today at Pokhara’s Fewa Lake.

The two day festival is a collaborative effort of Tourism Board, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, the Pokhara Metropolitan City, Pokhara Tourism Council and the China Overseas Chinese Association. 

The festival will feature eight teams, comprising four Nepali and four Chinese teams, competing in races of 200 and 500 meters.

A group of Chinese athletes and tourists arrived at Pokhara International Airport via the inaugural international landing flight of the newly constructed airport, the “A-391 Airbus of Sichuan Airlines,” to participate in the festival.

According to an official announcement, the winning team in the competition will receive a cash prize of NPR 550,000.
