Madhes Province Calls for Disaster Preparedness Amid Monsoon Threats
Birgunj, July 17 : The Madhes province government has directed government and non-government actors to focus on disaster risk reduction measures ahead of the Monsoon-induced calamities.
While addressing potential threats like floods, inundation, erosion, and lightning strikes, the Madhes province government urged stakeholders to prioritize preparedness to minimize loss of lives and properties.
In response to the situation, all government and non-government agencies were instructed to implement proactive measures for relief and rescue. The directive came during a meeting of the province’s disaster management executive committee, which included representatives from security agencies. Umesh Kumar Dhakal, Secretary at the Province Government’s Ministry of Home, Communications, and Law, informed about the collective efforts required to mitigate possible damages.
The directive specifically calls upon security agencies, including Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force, to be prepared with logistic arrangements for prompt relief and rescue operations.
