Heavy Rainfall Disrupts Normal Life in Lumbini Province

Lumbini, July 25: Heavy rainfall since last night has disrupted normal life in various districts of Lumbini province, including Rupandehi. The incessant downpour has also affected Palpa, Nawalparasi, Pyuthan, and surrounding areas.

While speaking at the Tinau Flood Measurement Centre in Butwal, it was reported that the Tinau river’s water level has surpassed the danger mark and continues to rise due to the heavy rainfall. Settlements close to the riverbank are now at an increased risk of flooding.

In response to the critical situation, authorities have urged residents living near the riverbank and in low-lying areas to evacuate to safer places by noon today. The Meteorological Forecasting Division has issued alerts for people in low-lying areas and settlements near river banks, advising them to take necessary precautions. Travelers have also been advised to be cautious.In addition to flooding concerns, landslides triggered by the incessant rain have obstructed main roads in various districts, including Palpa, Arghakhanchi, and Pyuthan.

The Highway Security and Traffic Management Office in Butwal has reported blockages on the Butwal-Palpa, Gorusinge-Sandhikharka, and Bhaluwang-Pyuthan roads due to landslides occurring at multiple locations.
