Dumre, July 26 : Paddy seedlings plantation is facing delays in Tanahun district due to the lack of sufficient rainfall during this rainy season.

While speaking at the issue, Dev Bahadur Kamali from Bhanu Municipality-2 expressed concern, stating that the farms in the area remain unplanted as the expected rain has not occurred this year. He further added, “Normally, paddy transplantation is completed by the end of Asar month, but this year, only half of the farmlands have been planted. Farmers are worried about the limited grain output.”Shivalal Pradhan, a farmer from Kalesti in Vyas Municipality-7, shared that the absence of water supply for plantation is exacerbating the difficulties farmers face. “We are going through hard times due to the lack of rainfall,” he noted.Pradip Ghimire of Vyas Municipality-7 added that land plots could remain barren this year if the rainfall does not arrive in a timely manner.

According to Kul Prasad Tiwari, the Senior Agricultural Development Officer and Chief of Agriculture Knowledge Centre in Tanahun, approximately 15 percent of the farmland is likely to remain barren this year due to the delayed rainfall. He attributed this condition to the lack of timely precipitation, and he stated that the farmers are still waiting for rainfall to commence the plantation.

Tiwari mentioned that around 75 percent of the land in Tanahun has completed paddy plantation, and there is hope that this figure may reach up to 85 percent by the end of the year.
