Bhojpur, August 3: Hatuwagadhi Rural Municipality has successfully constructed over 30 artificial ponds under its ‘One Ward, One Pond’ program.

While speaking about the initiative, Rural Municipality Chairperson Prem Kumar Rai shared that the local government introduced the ‘One Ward, One Pond’ program in response to the declining local water resources. The main objective of the program is to protect water resources while also providing support for irrigation through the construction of public ponds.

“We are determined to address water crisis issues through the establishment of ponds, and we anticipate sustainable impacts on water management and environmental adaptation. The construction of ponds will continue in this fiscal year as well,” stated Chairperson Rai.

He further emphasized that the initiative holds significant importance in the efforts to conserve the environment and plays a vital role in recharging the earth’s natural water resources.

According to Mahesh Niroula, the Rural Municipality Chief Administrative Officer, the construction of artificial ponds has been a regular part of the local government’s calendar for the past couple of years. In the last fiscal year, nine ponds were built, and a budget of Rs 100,000 has been allocated for the construction of each pond.
