Nepal to Make Debut at UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow
Kathmandu, Aug 4: Nepal is set to make its debut participation in the UCI Cycling World Championships. This marks the country’s first entry into the prestigious Cycling World Championships.
The 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, taking place in Glasgow and across Scotland, will witness the participation of both a male and a female cyclist from Nepal. The event is scheduled to run from August 3 to August 13.
Suraj Ranamagar will represent Nepal in the male category, while Usha Khanal will compete in the female category, both vying for the MTB Cross Country Championship. Heading the team of Nepali cyclists in Glasgow is the General Secretary of Nepal Cycling Association, Ranjan Rajbhandari, who holds the position of team manager.
It is worth noting that both Ranamagar and Khanal have also been selected to represent Nepal in the upcoming 19th Asian Games. Usha Khanal, in particular, holds the distinction of being the silver medal winner in the MTB Cross Country Championship during the 13th SAARC Games.
The Nepali cycling team is all set to depart for Scotland on Sunday, ready to make their mark on the international stage. As per reports, over 2,600 athletes from across the world are scheduled to participate in the 13 separate UCI World Championships held during this event.
