India Makes History: Chandrayaan-3 Lands Near Moon’s South Pole, Searching for Water
Kathmandu, Aug 23: In a historic achievement, India’s Chandrayaan-3 has become the first spacecraft to land near the bottom part of the Moon. The Vikram lander successfully touched down on the Moon’s surface, marking a significant step in space exploration. Inside the lander is the Pragyaan rover, which has six wheels and is designed to move around the Moon to gather pictures and information.
Scientists are excited about this mission because they believe there could be frozen water in craters on the dark side of the Moon. These craters are always in shadow and never get sunlight. The Pragyaan rover will explore these areas to find out if this frozen water actually exists. This could be really important for future space missions.
India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission is its third attempt to explore the Moon. This comes just after Russia’s Luna-25 spacecraft had a problem and crashed into the Moon. The successful landing by India shows the country’s dedication to space exploration. You can even watch live coverage of this mission by tapping the ‘play’ button at the top of the page.
