Police Arrest 5 Individuals with Over 24 kg of Marijuana in Kathmandu
Kathmandu, Dec 18: In a recent operation, police in Kathmandu apprehended five individuals in connection with the illegal possession and distribution of marijuana. The arrests were made in different parts of the city, with the suspects hailing from Lalitpur, Udaipur, and Myagdi.
Three individuals from Lalitpur, identified as 52-year-old Virendra Shrestha, 47-year-old Virendra Shrestha, and 54-year-old Suresh Shrestha, residents of Mahalakshmi Municipality-8 Luvhu, were taken into custody by the police stationed from Police Division Luvu and Police Circle Satdobato. The arrest, which occurred on Sunday evening, resulted in the confiscation of approximately 11 kg 1180 grams of marijuana.
In a separate incident, 21-year-old Robin Rai from Udaipur, a resident of Belka Municipality-9 Bhachuwa, was arrested by the police stationed at Rampur Thoksila police office in Ela. The arrest took place on Sunday afternoon, and Rai was found in possession of about 13 kg of marijuana.
The third arrest involved 46-year-old Gopal Darzi from Myagdi, residing in Raghuganga rural municipality-3 Mauwaphat. The police stationed at Ela Police Office Dana apprehended Darzi on Sunday morning in Annapurna Rural Municipality-3 Kavre, seizing approximately 1 kg 450 grams of marijuana.
The total haul from the operations amounted to about 24 kg 630 grams of the illegal drug. All five individuals are now facing charges related to the possession and distribution of marijuana, as authorities continue their efforts to combat illegal drug activities in the region.
The arrests highlight the ongoing commitment of law enforcement agencies to curb the trafficking and consumption of illegal substances, contributing to the overall safety and well-being of the community.
