Kathmandu, Dec 20: Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has set a new record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction by fetching the highest-ever price. Kolkata Knight Riders secured Starc for a historic sum of 247.5 million rupees, making him the most expensive player in IPL history.
Starc’s acquisition marks a significant milestone in the IPL auction, showcasing the demand for his exceptional fast-bowling skills. The Australian cricketer is expected to make a formidable impact for Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming IPL season.
Additionally, Australian left-arm fast bowler Spencer Johnson found a buyer in Gujarat Titans, who secured his services for a notable sum of 10 crore rupees.
In other notable transactions, Royal Challengers Bangalore added West Indies fast bowling all-rounder Alzari Joseph to their roster for a substantial sum of 115 million baht. Five-time champions Chennai Super Kings invested in Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins for 205 million baht, while Sunrisers Hyderabad secured the services of New Zealand’s star all-rounder Daryl Mitchell for 140 million baht.
