Crocodile and Dolphin Monitoring in Chitwan Reveals Significant Numbers

Chitwan, Jan 2: During monitoring in Narayani and Rapti rivers flowing through Chitwan National Park, a total of 265 crocodiles and three dolphins were found. The monitoring, conducted from January 1 to 15, revealed 113 crocodiles in Narayani and 152 in Rapti. The initiative, led by Chitwan National Park and National Nature Conservation Fund Biodiversity Conservation Center Sauraha, employed various tools such as boats, GPS, cameras, and binoculars. This annual monitoring aims to observe, rectify deficiencies, and ensure the protection and conservation of crocodiles in the region. Crocodile eggs are collected, hatched at the breeding center, and the young crocodiles are released back into the rivers.
